Japan Religion

Religious background

Many people in japan don't have strong religious beliefs but everyone in japan engages with rituals and practices and they are based on two religious traditions in Japan , Shinto , and Buddhism. Shinto means " the way of Gods " its the native religion of Japan and they worship many Gods called " kami " and Shinto also involves ancestor worship . Buddhism came to Japan in the 500s from India via china . Buddhism has more beliefs than Shinto and more complicated view on Gods and humanity . A group called "new religions " combines elements of Shinto , Buddhism and sometimes Christianity . There are very few people in Japan who are Christians .

Shinto/Buddhism and Coronavirus

The japan government made everyone close everything in March 2 , 2020 , everyone in Japan quarantined but they still found ways to do activties and do things even with covid spreading they still made sure to stay healthy . people made organizations for Shinto and Buddhism so they could still do their rituals , ect only few people go they were all hoping that they can get trough covid , later on the mayor of Japan and Korea worked together so the people living in Japan could still particpiate in all  their rituals so they eventually made a church so they could attend , but they can only go a few times a months and they have decided to do that for the rest of the pandemic util it is over .
