  Religious background  Many people in japan don't have strong religious beliefs but everyone in japan engages with rituals and practices and they are based on two religious traditions in Japan , Shinto , and Buddhism. Shinto means " the way of Gods " its the native religion of Japan and they worship many Gods called " kami " and Shinto also involves ancestor worship . Buddhism came to Japan in the 500s from India via china . Buddhism has more beliefs than Shinto and more complicated view on Gods and humanity .
